in conjunction with His Majesty’s Birthday on
2nd June 2012.
Among the highlights of his leadership was the International Telugu Cultural Conference & Golden Jubilee Celebration of Telugu Association of Malaysia at Genting Highlands in the year 2005. He spearheaded the organizing team to organize a large scaled conference and celebration which has been participated by Malaysian and also international delegates. The International Telugu Cultural Conference & Golden Jubilee Celebration of Telugu Association of Malaysia was only the second such international event organised by Telugu Association of Malaysia. The first was World Telugu Conference II which was held in Kuala Lumpur in 1981.
Dr Achaiah focused more on Telugu education, culture and social well-being of the community. Starting in the year 2006, Telugu Moral Camp is being organized yearly in a big scale. It is the goal of the president and his committee to prepare as many Telugu Children who are able to talk, write, read in Telugu and also conscious about the Telugu culture. Telugu Classes are also being conducted rapidly in all the association’s branches all over Malaysia. He is now heading a big project which is to build a Telugu Academy in TSN, Rawang.
In the year 2010, the Telugu Association of Malaysia has organised the largest ever Telugu people gathering in Malaysia at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya. The event, ‘150 Years Celebration of Malaysian Telugu Heritage’ or also known as ‘An Evening with Prime Minister’ has marked a massive turnout of more than 13,000 Telugu people from all over Malaysia. This remarkable gathering has shown the Malaysian Telugus’ strength to the government of Malaysia and has set a new milestone for the Telugu community in Malaysia.
In the year 2011, another Milestone was achieved by the Telugu Association of Malaysia. The Telugu Association of Malaysia’s Educational Fund called the ‘TAM FOUNDATION’ has been launched. To date, 10 Telugu children have received free interest loans worth a total of RM 100,000.00 from TAM Foundation to pursue their education.
Dr Achaiah has also played a very significant role in strengthening the Youth Wing, Mahila Wing and also all the association’s branches. His motivation and support is a great boost to the Youth Wing, Mahila Wing and also all the association’s branches to conduct beneficial and quality events for the community.
Yg Bhg Datuk Dr. Achaiah Kumar Rao Subramaniam deserved the award for all the services he rendered towards the Telugu Community in Malaysia. Dr Achaiah is the first President of Telugu Association of Malaysia to be conferred with the title in office. It is yet another milestone and a great honour to Telugu Association of Malaysia.
Congratulations, Datuk Dr. Achaiah. We are proud to have you as our president. We hope you will be graced with good health and strength to continue lead the Telugu Association of Malaysia to greater heights. Jai Telugu Thalli!
